Iconic Italian brand Fiorucci has officially launched Circolo UltraFiorucci, its new cultural space located at Via Lomazzo 19 in Milan. This milestone is marked by the inaugural exhibition MARKET, an installation by acclaimed Australian artist Thomas Jeppe, curated by The Community. The space underscores Fiorucci’s commitment to fostering cultural innovation and celebrating creativity across disciplines.

Circolo UltraFiorucci reflects the brand’s strategy to reclaim its cultural significance and embrace a modern creative identity. Alessandro Pisani, CEO of Fiorucci, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “This space plays a crucial role in shaping the new Fiorucci, adding meaningful pieces of narrative to the community we address.” The launch aims to deepen Fiorucci’s legacy as a cultural force, aligning with its storied history of blending fashion and artistic exploration.

MARKET by Thomas Jeppe transforms the gallery into an immersive marketplace of visual and auditory elements. The exhibition features four market stalls presenting 2am Runway, a multi-channel video exploring nighttime rhythms and the interplay of anonymity and spectacle. New works from Jeppe’s Tumult series, depicting fragmented skies inspired by recent news imagery, are displayed against wall-sized posters of Parisian nocturnal scenes, creating a juxtaposition of global turbulence and local intimacy.

A key element of the installation is its soundscape, composed by French musician Philippe Hallais (aka Low Jack). This auditory layer enhances the exhibition’s immersive qualities, inviting viewers to navigate Jeppe’s complex vision of cosmopolitan life. The interplay of mediums, painting, photography, video, and sound, underscores Jeppe’s reputation for engaging with sociocultural themes.

Francesca Murri, Creative Director of Fiorucci, highlighted the synergy between Jeppe’s work and the Fiorucci aesthetic. “Sensory experiences and contrasts are at the core of my creativity,” she remarked, drawing parallels between Jeppe’s multilayered narratives and Fiorucci’s storytelling approach. The exhibition embodies Fiorucci’s philosophy of using contrasts to shape new visions and offer diverse interpretations of self-representation.
MARKET will be open to the public from January 17th to February 9th, 2025, operating from Thursday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. With Circolo UltraFiorucci, the brand not only reaffirms its dedication to creativity but also establishes a vibrant hub for cultural exchange in Milan, bridging the past and future of Fiorucci’s artistic identity.
