Nike is set to release the Air Force 1 Low Invisible Woman 2.0, a modern take on the 2006 Air Force 1 created as part of the brand’s original Fantastic Four pack. The new version keeps the signature translucent elements that made the original stand out, while introducing cleaner materials and updated detailing. This 2025 edition arrives as Marvel prepares to launch Fantastic Four: First Steps, renewing interest in the character-driven design.

SNEAKERS

The original “Invisible Woman” Air Force 1, inspired by Marvel’s Sue Storm, divided sneaker fans with its use of see-through plastic panels across the upper. The updated version stays close to the original’s concept but refines the execution for broader appeal. Designed as a women’s exclusive, the shoe carries over the transparent aesthetic but shifts the color palette and materials to more neutral tones.

Design and Construction

The Air Force 1 Low Invisible Woman 2.0 features translucent TPU panels at the toe box and midfoot. These clear sections expose the sock beneath and directly reference the powers of Sue Storm, who can turn invisible. The surrounding overlays are constructed in white tumbled leather, replacing the original pair’s blue leather. This adjustment brings a cleaner visual profile and modern feel.

A soft grey leather Swoosh runs along both sides of the shoe, adding contrast to the otherwise all-white upper. Branding details include a woven Nike Air tongue tag in blue and white, blue eyelets, and matching embroidery on the heel. The insole is also decorated with blue graphics. An icy blue translucent outsole sits beneath a classic white midsole, maintaining visual ties to the 2006 release but applying a more refined finish.

Performance and Fit

As with all standard Air Force 1 Low models, this pair features a padded collar, perforated toe box, and full-length Air cushioning embedded in the midsole. The shoe offers the familiar build and feel of Nike’s long-standing lifestyle silhouette, designed for casual use rather than athletic performance. Lace dubraes stamped with “AF1” sit at the base of the tongue, finishing off the shoe’s lacing system.

Cultural Context

The original “Invisible Woman” AF1 debuted in 2006 and was part of a broader four-shoe pack that included characters from Marvel’s Fantastic Four. It stood out due to its visible plastic inserts – a design that influenced other sneaker projects such as the CLOT x Nike Air Force 1 and the Transparent Pack releases. At the time, it was considered experimental. The 2025 edition reintroduces the same concept in a more accessible format, aiming for both nostalgic appeal and renewed wearability.
