Alex Israel and Oliver Peoples have joined forces on a limited-edition release of the Oliver Sun frame, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Steadfast LA Foundation’s Modular Housing Initiative. The launch responds directly to the January 2025 wildfires and aims to help underinsured Angelenos stay rooted in their communities through access to modular housing solutions.

The collaboration features the Oliver Sun sunglasses in three distinctive colorways. black, tortoise, and crystal. each evoking a different facet of Los Angeles sophistication. The frames include a custom corewire etched with Israel’s signature Fin motif and a reinterpreted version of Oliver Peoples’ 1987 logo. These details reflect the artist’s fascination with the city’s surf culture, architectural nostalgia, and the ever-evolving energy of LA.

“This project is deeply personal,” Israel shared. “As someone born and raised in LA, the rebuild means everything—it’s essential that we do what we can to support our community and keep the magic of this city alive.” He describes the Fin not only as a symbol of surf identity but as a metaphor for momentum, imagination, and the spirit of renewal that defines Los Angeles.
To bring the collaboration’s vision to life, Oliver Peoples tapped photographer Justin Campbell to shoot the campaign at Israel’s Mid-City studio. Set against one of his iconic Sky Backdrop paintings, the campaign features Miranda Kerr, Diplo, and Eric Nam, three public figures who represent LA’s global impact across fashion, music, and entertainment.

“As a brand born in Los Angeles, this city is at the core of everything we do,” said Oliver Peoples President Rocco Basilico. “Alex brings its spirit to life in such a meaningful way, and this collaboration reflects the beauty of what happens when design, purpose, and community unite.”
Funds from the collection will go directly to Steadfast LA’s Modular Housing Initiative, a charitable program supporting wildfire survivors in areas like Malibu, Altadena, and Pasadena. In collaboration with partners including Samara, HomeAid OCLA, loanDepot, and Armanino Advisory, the program will provide modular homes at no cost to qualified residents.
The limited-edition sunglasses are available beginning July 9th exclusively at OliverPeoples.com and in select Oliver Peoples boutiques across the U.S., priced at $675.
