Nike Air Max 95 Blue Spark Makes Its Return in 2025

The Blue Spark colorway returns with familiar suede gradients and upgraded cushioning to mark 30 years of the Air Max 95

The Nike Air Max 95 OG Blue Spark returns in 2025, offering fans a refreshed take on a recognizable colorway. Built on a foundation of layered suede and electric blue detailing, this release revives a look first introduced in the early 2010s. While the color blocking remains faithful to earlier versions, the 2025 edition includes updated cushioning technology and improved materials.

Design Overview

This version of the Air Max 95 Blue Spark stays visually close to its previous release, featuring side panels that move from light grey to black in a smooth gradient. Each suede overlay deepens in tone as it descends, creating a rhythmic shift that follows the original 1995 design language. The upper’s mesh base is white, contrasting against the darker suede and hosting lace loops in vibrant Blue Spark. A small Swoosh, stitched in the same electric blue, sits near the heel on the lateral side, while the tongue patch carries the Air Max badge in matching tones.

Reflective silver accents cover the tongue and molded heel panel. These details reference the original 1995 release and also add dimension to the design under low light. Debossed Nike Air branding appears on the heel, maintaining a consistent visual connection with the rest of the OG line.

Cushioning and Sole Unit

While the upper remains largely unchanged, the 2025 Blue Spark 95s release features an updated sole unit. The polyurethane midsole comes in black and houses visible Air units in both the forefoot and heel. These windows now display a blue-tinted Air chamber, creating a visual link to the Blue Spark details on the upper. The visible Air system borrows from the Big Bubble format introduced on recent Air Max models, offering improved pressure distribution and increased volume compared to earlier versions.

The outsole uses a segmented rubber layout with a combination of black and grey, supporting flexibility and grip. It preserves the original design lines while improving performance through updated compounds and weight balance. This balance of visual loyalty and performance upgrade gives the sneaker broader wearability without losing its foundation.

Historical Context of the Air Max 95

Designed by Sergio Lozano and released in 1995, the Nike Air Max 95 stood out for its anatomical inspiration and bold layering. Lozano approached the design with references to human muscle structure and the way sediment forms in eroded rock. This concept produced a series of horizontal layers on the upper, which gave the shoe a distinct side profile and helped introduce a new direction for Nike Running at the time.

The Air Max 95 also became the first Nike shoe to feature visible forefoot Air cushioning, building on the legacy of the Air Max 1 and Air Max 90. This technological addition changed how runners experienced midsole comfort and later became a defining visual trait for streetwear adoption in the early 2000s.

SNEAKERS

The Blue Spark colorway originally appeared in 2011 and drew attention for its replacement of the more familiar Volt green with vivid blue. The color choice offered a sharper contrast with the grey gradients and appeared as a fresh take on a classic form. It wasn’t the first time Nike reimagined the OG gradient with different accents, but the Blue Spark quickly became a sought-after pair for its balance of vibrancy and wearability.

In 2025, the color returns largely unchanged in placement and tone, but the materials and build quality benefit from advancements made over the past decade. The suede overlays are softer yet more structured, while the mesh upper now uses updated threads for durability and breathability. Stitch lines are cleaner, and reflective panels more precisely shaped, small improvements that refine the look.

Release Information

The Air Max 95 OG Blue Spark is set to release globally in 2025. It will be available via Nike SNKRS, select boutiques, and Nike-affiliated retailers. The retail price is set at $190 USD.

  • SKU: IM7410-100

  • Colorway: White/Blue Spark/Black/Neutral Grey/Medium Grey

  • Price: $190 USD

  • Release Date: 2025

This release is part of a broader 30th anniversary cycle for the Air Max 95. Other models already confirmed for 2025 include the return of the “Neon” and “Comet Red” colorways. While those lean on legacy status, the Blue Spark release sits between revival and reinterpretation. Nike has also expanded the use of the Big Bubble across Air Max silhouettes this year. The Blue Spark benefits from this shift, gaining comfort and flexibility without compromising its identity.
