BLACKPINK and Tamagotchi have announced a collaboration that brings the global girl group into the format of the iconic digital toy. The partnership introduces a limited-edition product that allows fans to raise digital versions of BLACKPINK members, combining pop culture with a familiar retro play experience. The BLACKPINK Original Tamagotchi will launch on December 23, marking the first release within a broader BLACKPINK x Tamagotchi project scheduled to expand next year.

YG Plus confirmed the collaboration and positioned the product as a pre-launch release ahead of the full official lineup, which is planned for 2026. The BLACKPINK Original Tamagotchi will be available exclusively through KakaoTalk Gift, with sales opening on December 23. Additional products within the collaboration will be revealed at a later date, with no further details shared at this stage.
The collaboration builds on the idea of fans actively engaging with BLACKPINK through interactive play. Users can raise digital characters inspired by the group’s members, translating BLACKPINK’s presence into the familiar Tamagotchi format. Visually, the device draws directly from BLACKPINK’s identity. Tamagotchi’s small oval shape remains intact, reinforcing the toy’s 1990s origins while aligning it with BLACKPINK’s modern image.

YG Plus described the product as a collectible item rather than a standard toy. The company emphasized its connection to retro play culture and its relevance to the MZ generation, framing the collaboration as a meeting point between digital nostalgia and BLACKPINK’s global recognition.
Ahead of the release, online reactions signaled strong interest from fans. Responses following the teaser highlighted demand, with comments describing the product as essential and praising its retro aesthetic. These early reactions suggest high competition for purchase once sales open, particularly given the limited nature of the pre-launch release.
The BLACKPINK Original Tamagotchi functions as an entry point into a larger collaboration scheduled to unfold in the future. While details of the full BLACKPINK x Tamagotchi lineup remain undisclosed, the December 23 release establishes the tone and direction of the partnership.
