Alpinestars RSRV and HELIOT EMIL hosted an exclusive preview of their newest footwear collaboration, The Art of Protection, during Paris Fashion Week. The presentation introduced a shared investigation into how protective technology operates once it leaves its original environment. The project centers on footwear developed through high-performance systems and examined within everyday urban use.
It supports safety, withstands pressure, and responds to extreme conditions. This collaboration examines how those systems behave once removed from the track. Motorsport equipment enters the city. Industrial components appear within daily routines. Safety technologies and ergonomic structures take on new roles through repositioning, altering how protection communicates and functions.

The preview framed The Art of Protection as a continuation of an ongoing dialogue between the two brands. HELIOT EMIL and Alpinestars RSRV share an interest in engineering as a design language. The collaboration studies how performance-driven materials adapt when designers place them in unfamiliar settings. Engineered elements migrate into wardrobes while retaining their technical identity. Components once concealed within protective gear surface openly, shifting from internal function to visible structure.
Technical systems designed for motorsport performance translate into an urban context through construction and assembly. Stability, response, and protection remain embedded in the design, even as surroundings change. The shift alters perception. Engineering moves from hidden necessity to readable form, allowing wearers to engage directly with the logic behind the object.

The collaboration draws from Alpinestars’ extensive research in motorsports and HELIOT EMIL’s abstract approach to design. The work does not seek visual excess. It prioritizes observation, testing, and response. Designers study how materials behave under different demands and how function adjusts through use.
Construction lines, material junctions, and technical components remain exposed. This choice reframes protection as something understood through structure rather than assumed through concealment. When high-performance equipment enters everyday life, its purpose expands. Protection gains relevance through proximity to the body and daily movement. The collaboration treats design as an evolving system shaped by material behavior and environment.

As Julius Juul, Creative Director of HELIOT EMIL, explains, the project focuses on transformation through context. “We’re interested in how objects evolve when they leave their original context. Working with Alpinestars RSRV lets us explore how utility, form, and gesture can coexist over time.”
This perspective guides the collaboration’s direction. Utility remains central, yet form and gesture gain presence through placement and exposure. The exclusive preview in Paris positioned The Art of Protection as an exploration. Alpinestars RSRV and HELIOT EMIL present footwear that examines how engineered systems adapt when environments change.
