At the year’s first major international tennis tournament in Melbourne, BOSS introduces NovaPoly™ yarn, a recycled alternative to virgin polyester developed with Jiaren Chemical Recycling and NBC LLC. The debut places advanced material research directly into competitive play, positioning the yarn as a practical response to performance demands and textile innovation. NovaPoly™ arrives as a biodegradable option in an anaerobic active microbial environment, enabled by a specific additive that accelerates degradability when compared with conventional polyester fibers.
BOSS brings NovaPoly™ onto the court to demonstrate performance in real conditions. Tennis styles worn during play in Melbourne feature the new yarn, including jerseys, shorts, and caps. BOSS ambassadors Taylor Fritz and Matteo Berrettini wear the pieces during matches, placing the material under the physical pressures of professional competition.
NovaPoly™ originates from recycled textile waste drawn from both pre-consumer and post-consumer sources. Jiaren Chemical Recycling processes the waste, while NBC LLC supports development, resulting in a yarn designed for advanced performance use. The additive integrated into the fiber alters its behavior at end of life, allowing faster degradation in specific environments without altering performance during wear.
The launch represents the second textile introduced under BOSS’s THE CHANGE initiative, a platform focused on future-facing technologies and purposeful design development. Within this framework, NovaPoly™ supports HUGO BOSS’s strategic sustainability pillars, including efforts that address microplastics.
The Melbourne showcase situates NovaPoly™ within a broader strategy that prioritizes advanced materials as a driver of product evolution. BOSS plans global availability for designs made with NovaPoly™ beginning January 2026. The pieces will launch online, in BOSS stores, and through selected wholesale partners worldwide.
