Fashion house Burberry marks 170 years with a new take on its rainwear, introducing trench coats, car coats, and jackets made in tropical gabardine. This version of the fabric feels lighter and suits warmer conditions, while keeping the function that defines the house’s outerwear.
SPRING 2026
The collection stays close to familiar shapes. The Kensington, Waterloo, and Fitzrovia trench coats return with a lighter build, while the Camden car coat keeps its clean, streamlined line. These pieces carry the structure people associate with Burberry, though the fabric shifts how they feel and wear through the day.

Color plays a clear role across the range. Women’s pieces come in pale sugar pink and stone beige, while men’s options include graphite grey. The palette keeps things soft and easy, in line with the lighter fabric and seasonal focus.
A few designs adjust the proportions. The Mayfair trench jacket for women comes in a cropped cut that sharpens the silhouette. For men, the Bloomsbury jacket draws from the Harrington style and places it within Burberry’s outerwear language. These additions expand the offering while maintaining consistency with the house’s established design language.

Gabardine remains central to the collection’s identity. Thomas Burberry introduced the fabric in 1879, and it gained recognition for its light feel, breathability, and resistance to water. By 1893, the house produced different weights of gabardine to suit changing weather conditions.
Tropical gabardine continues that line of development. Each piece uses shower-resistant cotton woven at the Burberry Mill in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Inside, the garments carry archive beige Burberry Check lining, connecting the collection to a long-standing visual code.

This collection focuses on adapting familiar outerwear for a different climate. The shapes remain the same, while the fabric shifts the experience of wearing them. Burberry keeps its approach clear and direct, working through material and proportion instead of changing the core design.
The tropical gabardine collection is now available in Burberry stores worldwide.
