Krisanova Design Studio completes Rethinking the Sky House, a 72-square-meter apartment, as a carefully controlled study in tone, geometry, and spatial continuity. Designer Arina Krisanova structured the interior around a monochrome beige palette, allowing surfaces, built-in volumes, and functional objects to merge into a single architectural field. Rather than relying on contrast, the project establishes identity through proportion, reflection, and subtle shifts in light.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The main bathroom introduces one of the project’s most sculptural moments. A custom sink emerges as a solid geometric volume positioned against a seamless mirror that extends from the countertop upward. The mirror removes the visual boundary between object and wall, creating the impression that the sink continues indefinitely into the reflective plane. This gesture reinforces the project’s focus on dissolving conventional distinctions between architecture and furniture, allowing functional elements to operate as structural components of the space.
In the guest bathroom, Krisanova integrates a limited edition ASKO x Maxim Kashin Architects home laundry unit featuring Maxim Kashin’s Suprematist pattern. Produced in a series of ten pieces to mark Kazimir Malevich’s historic 0.10 exhibition, the appliance introduces a direct reference to early twentieth-century abstraction. Its graphic surface contrasts with the otherwise restrained interior while remaining aligned with the project’s emphasis on geometry and visual order.
Selecting the exact wall color required extensive testing. Krisanova developed approximately twenty variations of beige before determining a tone capable of maintaining consistency under changing daylight and artificial illumination. Because every element within the apartment exists within the same tonal framework, even minor variations affected the perception of spatial continuity. The final selection ensures a smooth transition between vertical and horizontal surfaces, reinforcing the impression of a unified environment.
Completed in November 2025, Rethinking the Sky House reflects Krisanova Design Studio’s commitment to minimalist interiors shaped by precise geometry and material control. The project demonstrates how monochrome design can generate spatial depth through reflection, proportion, and light rather than decorative layering.
