Located in central Athens, Max Brown Downtown Athens is a stylish city hotel in the Omonia area. The hotel is part of Sircle Collection, an international hotel group with design-focused properties across Europe. With 87 rooms, the hotel combines a convenient location with a distinctive design and a relaxed atmosphere.
HOTELS
The hotel is located on Veranzerou Street, making it a convenient base for exploring Athens. Many of the city’s main sights are within walking distance, which was one of the things we appreciated most during our stay. We could simply leave the hotel and start exploring without having to rely on taxis or public transport for every trip.

Design
Design is one of the first things you notice at Max Brown Downtown Athens. The hotel has a retro-industrial aesthetic, combining raw and textured surfaces, exposed black piping, vintage-inspired furniture and deliberately unfinished-looking details. It feels modern and urban, but also has a slightly nostalgic character that gives the property its own identity.
Another distinctive feature is the linear red lighting. It is particularly noticeable in the rooms, where it creates an atmospheric effect, but it also appears in selected areas throughout the hotel. The combination of the industrial details and red lighting works surprisingly well and gives the hotel a bold look without making the entire interior feel red.

Our Room
Our room was on the smaller side, but it was compact and well organised. Everything we needed was there, and for a short stay, the size was not a problem for us. The room felt comfortable rather than cramped, and it continued the hotel’s distinctive design with industrial details and the signature linear red lighting.
The highlight was definitely the bed. It was big and extremely comfortable, which was especially welcome after spending hours walking around Athens. Coming back to a comfortable room and a great bed at the end of a long day made a real difference.

Cleanliness and Service
One of the things that impressed us most was the cleanliness. The hotel was extremely clean, from our room to the shared areas, and everything felt well maintained throughout the property.
The staff were another major highlight. Everyone we met was friendly, welcoming and ready to help. They were always smiling and happy to assist whenever we had a question or needed something. That kind of warm and genuine service can make a big difference to a hotel stay, and we definitely appreciated it here.
Breakfast
Breakfast was probably the most modest part of our experience. There was no huge selection, but the basics were there, including Greek yogurt, toast and fruit, along with other simple options. It was enough to have something before heading out for the day.
If you prefer a large hotel breakfast with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, you may find it a little limited. For us, however, it was perfectly adequate. We were more interested in getting out and exploring Athens than spending a long time over breakfast.

The Gym
The hotel also has a gym, and we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was. It has the basic equipment needed for a workout, so while it is not a full-scale fitness centre, it is more than enough for keeping up with your routine while travelling.
For a city hotel, having a decent-sized gym is a nice bonus, especially if you like to fit in a workout between sightseeing and dinner.

The Rooftop
The rooftop was one of our favourite features of the hotel. It offers views across Athens and has a jacuzzi, creating a great place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing.
After spending hours walking around the city, going up to the rooftop and taking some time to unwind was a great way to finish the day. The combination of the city views and the jacuzzi adds something extra to the hotel and makes it feel like more than simply a place to sleep.

A Great Base for Exploring Athens
For us, the location worked extremely well. Many of the places we wanted to visit were within walking distance, which made exploring the city easy and convenient. Athens is a city that is best experienced on foot, and having a central base meant we could spend more time discovering the streets, neighbourhoods and sights without worrying too much about transportation.
For travellers planning a city break, this is one of the hotel’s biggest advantages. You can spend the day exploring Athens and easily return to the hotel when you need a break.

Final Thoughts
Overall, we had a very positive experience at Max Brown Downtown Athens. The hotel combines a convenient central location with comfortable rooms, excellent cleanliness, friendly staff and a distinctive design that gives it plenty of personality.
The rooms are on the smaller side and the breakfast is fairly basic, but neither was a major issue for us. What mattered more was the overall experience: a clean and comfortable place to stay, genuinely helpful staff, a great location and some memorable details that make the hotel different from a typical city property.
The comfortable bed, retro-industrial design, linear red lighting, spacious gym and rooftop jacuzzi were all highlights for us. Most importantly, the hotel gave us a comfortable base from which to explore Athens while still feeling like a place with its own character.
Would we stay again? Absolutely.
If you are looking for a stylish and comfortable hotel in Athens with a central location and a little personality, Max Brown Downtown Athens is definitely worth considering.
