The Air Jordan 1 High OG Royal returns on October 10, 2026, bringing one of the model’s original 1985 colorways back in its familiar black and Game Royal leather construction. Designed by Peter Moore, the Air Jordan 1 introduced the foundation for Michael Jordan’s signature footwear line, with Royal becoming one of the defining color combinations from its first year.

The 2026 edition closely follows the original two-tone arrangement. Smooth black leather covers the base of the upper, while Game Royal appears on the perforated toe box, Swoosh, heel and collar flap. The lateral ankle carries a debossed Wings logo, and a woven Nike Air tag appears on the black nylon tongue.
A white midsole breaks up the black and blue upper, while a Game Royal rubber outsole completes the design. Nike equips the sneaker with encapsulated Air-Sole cushioning inside the foam midsole, retaining the familiar Air Jordan 1 High OG construction.
Royal has returned several times since its 1985 debut. Jordan Brand released retro editions in 2001, 2013 and 2017, giving the colorway recurring appearances throughout the Air Jordan 1 archive. The 2013 version returned Nike Air branding to the tongue, while the 2017 release brought the classic black and blue leather treatment back in High OG form.
Jordan Brand approached Royal differently in 2023 with the Air Jordan 1 High OG Royal Reimagined. That edition retained the established color blocking while replacing the traditional smooth leather treatment with suede. The 2026 pair returns to leather, restoring the material choice associated with the original and earlier retro releases.
The upcoming edition also arrives with special packaging tied to the colorway’s 1985 history. The box takes inspiration from a promotional photograph of Michael Jordan wearing black and Royal apparel with the sneakers, giving the presentation another direct reference to the original period.
Jordan Brand plans the release in full-family sizing. Adult pairs retail for $185, Grade School pairs for $140, Preschool for $85, Toddler for $70 and Crib sizing for $55. The Air Jordan 1 High OG Royal releases on October 10, 2026, through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers.
