Foam vs Innerspring: What’s The Best Bang For Your Buck?

We all want to set ourselves up for the best night’s sleep possible. We get the temperature perfect, a high thread count for the sheets, a glass of water on the nightstand and the white noise machine at the perfect volume. Unfortunately, however, none of that means anything if the mattress you’re resting your weary bones on is uncomfortable, old, too soft or too hard.

So, if you find yourself among the millions of people who are looking to buy a mattress at any given time, you have likely already stumbled upon the debate between foam mattresses and innerspring mattresses. Both of these designs have their own positives and merits, and depending on your specific situation, either one could be the right choice for you.

However, if cost is your main concern, there is a clear winner between the two, and this is precisely what we’ll be covering and exploring in this article. Let’s get into it and investigate which is going to give you more bang for your buck between foam mattresses and innerspring mattresses.

Foam Mattresses Are Usually More Expensive But Have Better Longevity

The debate of foam vs innerspring is one that has raged on for years now, and in truth, there is no real decisive answer. Depending on your situation, either one could be the best option for you, and there is no way we can tell you which mattress to go for with any reasonable degree of accuracy without knowing your personal circumstances.

If the only variable you care about is up-front costs, then innerspring mattresses are going to be your best bet. However, if you want to get the most bang for your buck over the long term, then foam mattresses are superior in almost every way, and you will end up spending way less money further down the line.

If you only plan on keeping a mattress for a few years, then an innerspring mattress is likely going to be the most cost-effective option. Alternatively, if you are hoping to get decades of use out of a mattress, then foam is the way to go, and this will end up saving you a ton of cash on replacements over the long term.

Keep in mind whether you have any plans to eventually replace your current bedframe. Mattresses (and bed frames) are available in standard sizes, so if you’re planning on keeping the same size bed you needn’t worry. But, if you want to upgrade from a double to a queen or a queen to a king, then there’s no point in splashing out on an expensive mattress right now.

There Are Affordable Options For Each

Something that just has to be said is that there are affordable options for both types of mattresses. If you take a look at the pricebusters cheap mattress range or any similar alternative, you will find a myriad of innerspring and foam mattresses for roughly the same cost, and this makes price become much less of a factor.

It doesn’t matter which mattress type you prefer – you will be able to obtain either for an affordable price, and this makes the whole debate between innerspring and foam relatively obsolete. It comes down to personal preference, and which mattress you think will send you off on a better night’s sleep.

Back when foam mattresses were a relatively new thing, they were a lot more expensive and a lot less attainable to the average person. These days, however, the technology behind them has been honed – the mattresses can be produced quicker – and the price tag doesn’t need to be anywhere near as high.

We hope we have been able to give you a better insight into which type of mattress is going to be best for you. In truth, both mattresses are entirely situational, and depending on what you are after, either one could be the perfect mattress type for you.

However, if your goal is to spend as little money upfront as possible, then innerspring is likely going to be your winner. On the other hand, if you want to get the most cost-effective mattress in the long term, then foam is going to be your best bet, and you will end up saving way more cash in the long run due to its far superior longevity.
