Italian brand MAGLIANO unveiled its Spring Summer 2024 Collection with a fashion show held on June 18th, during the ongoing Milan Fashion Week. The collection brings garments that are embroidered with prayers, epigraphs, and expressions of gratitude for those who are present and for those who are yet to arrive. Graphics punctuate the pieces with persuasive requests and audacious challenges, leaving an indelible mark. The clothing becomes talismans, as a result of the events that have transpired. It recalls Alda Merini, the season’s whirlwind heroine, who used to keep money near to her heart to ward off poverty.

Bomber jackets, trousers, work overalls, and wind-breaking jackets are deconstructed and transformed into glamorous remnants of a wretched couture. The garments retain their protective and technical qualities, but are purposefully shredded and torn, with the residual hem becoming a cherished memento. Headgear is held together fleetingly with knots, the simplest and most effective fastening technique. Nylon acquires a dual nature,with clothes breaking apart only to be reassembled, scraping against each other once again. As in a factory, the denim is stained and scorched, while the graphic “Magliano Srl” represents not only a brand but also the city of Bologna, where products are manufactured. The monster shoe loses its heaviness and assumes varied forms for both men and women. For the second season, the collaboration between U-Power and Magliano expands the selection of anti-hardship footwear. The color scheme is straightforward, consisting predominantly of black and white with occasional off-tones. If not for the presence of these respective off-colors, it would be radical.
