Les Benjamins, the innovative contemporary streetwear label based in Istanbul and founded by Bünyamin Aydin, presented its Spring Summer 2024 collection, during the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. The collection combines comfort, futurism, heritage, and functionality to create a groundbreaking range, drawing inspiration from Turkey’s diversified cultural heritage.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
The collection, entitled ‘Kismet Voyage East to West,’ pays homage to Sadun Boro, the first Turkish amateur sailor who sailed around the globe by sailboat. It derives its name from Boro’s historic voyage and his adored sailing vessel, ‘Kismet-Fortune,’ symbolizing the mariner’s exceptional sailing skills, unwavering resolve, and pursuit of excellence.
The new collection from Les Benjamins embarks on a global odyssey, taking wearers on a transformative journey from the beginning of the race to the highly anticipated awards ceremony. The collection features an assortment of avant-garde pieces infused with nautical elements and tailoring, merging futuristic accents with nostalgic aesthetic.
The first segment of the Spring Summer 2024 collection is inspired by sails and features lightweight nylon fabrics, distressed leathers, denim colors, and recycled materials. Ropes, handcrafted macramé, and contemporary cuts are intricate details that reflect the influence of vintage oil posters and sailing recruitment advertisements, imparting a sense of playfulness.
The second section of ‘Kismet Voyage East to West‘ pays homage to the lavish splendor of the sail’s prestigious awards ceremony by exhibiting silk, tailored fabrics, and structured silhouettes. The collection finds a balance between tailored suits and multilayered ensembles, with a vibrant color palette inspired by the ocean’s diverse marine life. The collection is adorned with graphics influenced by Sadun Boro’s personal passion for fashion and tailoring, including fonts redolent of 1960s serifs and prints inspired by Morse code. The collection also features meticulously crafted woven labels, metal branding elements, and Les Benjamins‘ emblematic three-colored prints, which are signature elements.
