Sky has dropped the first teaser for “IT: Welcome to Derry,” confirming that the prequel series to Stephen King’s horror classic will arrive this autumn on Sky and streaming service NOW. The brief preview sets a chilling tone while offering the first glimpse of Pennywise’s return, once again portrayed by Bill Skarsgård, and establishes the 1960s Maine setting that precedes the events of Andy Muschietti’s two hit films.

Positioned as a Sky Exclusive drama, “IT: Welcome to Derry” revisits King’s original novel yet widens its scope, delving into the town’s earlier nightmares and the origins of its shape-shifting menace. Director Andy Muschietti, who steered the 2017 and 2019 features, directs multiple episodes and shares executive-production duties with sister Barbara Muschietti through their Double Dream banner. Co-creator Jason Fuchs, who penned the pilot, joins Brad Caleb Kane as co-showrunner.
The ensemble unites Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso alongside Skarsgård. Their characters remain under wraps, but the teaser hints at the racial tensions and missing-children cases that haunt 1960s Derry, setting the stage for new “Losers” to confront mounting dread.
Behind the camera, the project boasts a heavyweight roster of executive producers: Andy and Barbara Muschietti, Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Bill Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee and Dan Lin. Their collective task is to honor King’s source material while expanding the mythology established in the feature-film duo.
“IT: Welcome to Derry” will premiere on Sky in the UK and Ireland, with episodes streaming day-and-date on NOW. Exact air dates are expected later this summer, but the teaser signals that Pennywise’s balloon-filled reign of terror is poised to float back into living rooms before Halloween.
