Converse introduces a new chapter for its First String line, presenting updated executions of the Chuck Taylor through a focused approach to material and construction. First String represents the most elevated version of the silhouette, where each detail reflects a direct engagement with craft, structure, and finish. The line builds on the familiar form of the Chuck Taylor while refining how it is made and experienced.

This season centers on three material executions that shift the character of the shoe through surface and texture. Premium Leather offers the most reduced expression, allowing the construction and proportions of the silhouette to remain fully visible. The material defines the shoe through its quality and finish, placing emphasis on the build itself. Snake Print Leather introduces a foil-finished pattern that creates variation across the surface, adding depth while maintaining a tonal appearance. Croc Print Leather focuses on embossed texture, bringing a more pronounced surface while remaining grounded in the established shape of the Chuck Taylor.

Each version builds on the same foundation that defines First String. The construction introduces added weight and reinforced structure, supporting durability and long-term wear. Elevated foxing tapes, refined textiles, and leather linings shape the tactile experience, giving each pair a consistent sense of material depth and finish.
The outsole plays a key role in the overall construction. Converse integrates a Vibram outsole, known for traction, performance, and temperature regulation, into the Chuck Taylor form. This addition supports functionality while maintaining the identity of the silhouette. Underfoot, a molded sockliner combines Converse CX and Nike Air technology, delivering cushioning that supports comfort in daily use.

First String also introduces updates to the shape and fit of the shoe. A revised last widens the profile to accommodate modern foot shapes while preserving the visual identity of the Chuck Taylor. The toe cap appears shorter, creating a subtle shift in proportion. A lace keeper stabilizes the tongue, while an expanded eyerow pattern reduces the opening and secures the fit. These adjustments refine the structure without altering the recognizable outline of the shoe.
Further changes appear in the detailing. The pinstripes take on a tonal wheeled finish, offering a more refined visual treatment. The license plate increases in size and references designs from the late 1950s. The collar top-line receives a reshaped form, and polished eyelets complete the upper. Each element contributes to a consistent approach that reworks familiar details through updated execution.

The release extends beyond the shoe itself through its packaging. A two-piece heavyweight cardboard box draws from vintage references, paired with a dust bag and a cardboard sleeve. These elements reinforce the elevated nature of the First String line and complete the overall presentation.
The First String Chuck Taylor in Premium Leather, Snake Print Leather, and Croc Print Leather arrives on March 24 through select global retailers.
