Marvel has released the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, previewing the heroes, rivalries and multiverse threats ahead of its December 18 cinema release. Earlier previews offered brief glimpses of the project. The new trailer provides a much broader look at the story and brings together characters from several branches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also delivers the first substantial footage of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, the central figure behind the film’s title.
MOVIES
Thor appears to carry a major role as one of the remaining original Avengers. The trailer places him inside the new Avengers tower, where Bucky Barnes, Ant-Man and Captain America meet the Fantastic Four. That encounter connects established MCU figures with the recently introduced team and suggests that Thor will help bring the different groups together.
Other scenes reveal conflicts across the expanding cast. Shuri, now Black Panther, confronts Namor after their previous clash. Gambit fights Shang-Chi in a moment that raises questions about alliances and the larger situation surrounding the characters. The trailer gives no explanation for the battle, leaving their positions within the conflict unclear.
Loki also returns under intense pressure. He remains connected to the Time Variance Authority and continues to hold the timelines together. His appearance suggests that the unstable multiverse will play a major role in the events of Doomsday.
Yelena enters a fight against someone who looks exactly like her. The trailer then reveals Mystique beneath the disguise, adding another layer of uncertainty to the growing confrontation. The scene introduces deception into a film already filled with characters from separate teams and realities.
The final moments bring back Steve Rogers. Thor describes his arrival as a “miracle” before the trailer shows a bearded Steve prepared for combat. The footage leaves his return unexplained and raises the possibility that he may enter Battleworld. His appearance gives the trailer one of its largest surprises and restores another original Avenger to the developing conflict.

Spider-Man and Doctor Strange remain absent from the trailer despite the number of heroes shown. Marvel gives no indication of whether either character will join the film or appear elsewhere in the developing multiverse story.
Doctor Doom provides the trailer’s main threat. Robert Downey Jr. appears several times behind the character’s metal mask and cloak. Doom confronts Thor directly and leaves him visibly shaken, establishing the scale of his power. Their encounter places Doom above the many disputes already dividing the assembled heroes. A new poster also places the villain at the center of the film’s visual campaign.
The trailer leaves several questions unresolved. Marvel has yet to explain how the different character groups will come together or why some heroes appear to fight one another. The film may also address whether Doctor Doom shares any connection with Tony Stark, the role Downey played throughout the earlier MCU films.
