For McQueen Spring Summer 2027, Creative Director Seán McGirr turns directly to London, the city where the house began. Its streets, energy and subcultures shape a collection driven by the tension between modern life and history, formality and rebellion, sacred imagery and underground culture.

McGirr describes London as a constant source of stimulation for McQueen. Its uncompromising attitude informs the collection, while the city’s darker corners provide space for experimentation. Spring Summer 2027 explores those qualities through clothes that connect urban references with religious imagery and the visual codes of nightlife.
The palette draws from two distinct sources. Colors associated with religious portraiture meet the washed neon tones of underground raves. McQueen carries that relationship into the materials, using smoked tulle alongside acid floral prints applied to reflective glass organza. The fabrics shift between delicacy and intensity, giving the collection a visual language that links the ethereal with the city after dark.
Lacquered satin introduces a glossy surface, while leather harnesses bring a sharper physical element to the silhouettes. Precious metal body pieces by jeweler Shaun Leane extend this exploration through jewelry created for the body. The materials and accessories develop McGirr’s interest in purity, transgression and the tension that exists between the two.
Tailoring provides another major focus. McGirr works with the traditions of Savile Row, an important element within McQueen’s design history, and pushes their established proportions into new forms. Sculptural tailoring shaped like angel wings creates volume around the body, while tall, strict suits introduce a more formal silhouette.
McQueen also worked with Huntsman on three bespoke menswear looks. The collaboration uses British wool and applies the expertise of Savile Row tailoring to silhouettes developed specifically for the collection. These looks connect traditional construction with McGirr’s exploration of London counterculture and the city’s relationship with formal dress.
Eveningwear takes the collection further into ideas of transformation and heightened beauty. The McQueen atelier developed intricate embroideries with elemental qualities, introducing detailed surfaces throughout the evening pieces. Jacquards use dark, nocturnal patterns that gradually dissolve into sheer organza, allowing density and transparency to coexist within individual garments.
That transition between solid and transparent surfaces appears throughout Spring Summer 2027. Smoked tulle reveals the body through layers, reflective organza catches light, and satin produces a lacquered finish. The materials give McGirr different ways to interpret the collection’s recurring references to darkness, light, religion and nightlife.
London remains the connecting point throughout. McGirr looks at a city where historical codes continue alongside contemporary subcultures and where Savile Row tailoring exists close to underground nightlife. McQueen Spring Summer 2027 translates those tensions through sculptural suits, sheer fabrics, reflective florals, leather harnesses, metal body pieces and elaborate eveningwear.
