Fashion house LOEWE launches its final Studio Ghibli collection, which this time draws inspiration from Howl’s Moving Castle. The collaboration is boldly brought to life with Selfridges, where LOEWE takes residence from February 1st until February 25th with an exclusive pre-launch of the capsule collection in the Corner Shop, a unique culinary experience and Studio Ghilbli exhibition space.
Alongside a pop-up at the Corner Shop, Selfridges will host a playfully multi-dimensional LOEWE x Howl’s Moving Castle experience: Calcifer’s Kitchen by culinary creative studio Balbosté, cinema screenings of the film, a pop-up by LOEWE Perfumes and a takeover of Selfridges’ iconic windows. Selfridges’ exhibition space will also be transformed into The Cloud Room, where visitors will be able to discover a selection of the film’s background art
by Studio Ghibli, go behind-the-scenes of the campaign, explore the making of the collection’s exquisite Moving Castle bag, and find themselves amongst the clouds with an immersive installation.
Taking over Selfridges’ Dolly’s Café on the LG from 1-25 February, Calcifer’s Kitchen is a unique culinary experience serving a menu of exquisitely crafted dishes inspired by scenes and characters from the film. To bring Calcifer’s Kitchen to life, LOEWE has commissioned French culinary and events studio Balbosté who design multi-sensorial experiences inspired by art, craft, culture and fashion. Offering a playful take on the traditional English afternoon tea, dishes include meadow-inspired sandwiches, vermicelli broomsticks, macarons, cakes, cloud terrines, and a twist on traditional Alsatian specialties in a nod to the film’s setting in Colmar, Alsace. Complementing the food, there will be cocktails provided by Le Syndicat and teas by Conservatoire des Hémisphère, with handcrafted ceramic trays by Daphne Leon and handcrafted tableware in the shape of Sophie’s iconic hat by Laurette Broll. – from Loewe
