Japanese menswear label TAAKK presented its Spring Summer 2024 Collection, titled God is in the detail, on Sunday, June 25th, during the last day of the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. The band asks the question: Why does nature have such a profound effect on us? This season’s collection was inspired by a straightforward inquiry: the origins of visual empathy.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
Since its inception, TAAKK has consistently used a multidisciplinary approach to challenge conventional perceptions of reality and stretch the boundaries of innovative menswear design. The brand conducts extensive material research and utilizes inventive fabric treatments, collaborating directly with technicians in each field they investigate.
The forms we observe in nature appear complex while adhering to certain patterns. The hexagons in a bee’s nest, the spirals of seashells, and the ripple patterns on foliage demonstrate that the initial disorder of nature is governed by a profound order. With time and numerous attempts, these forms converge and approach perfection. Unlike human-made shapes, the forms of nature arise from the natural world. The stripes of a zebra resemble the lines in a desert’s sand, the spiral of a sea shell resembles a rotating galaxy, and the veins of a leaf resemble the path of merging rivers. In drastically different contexts, identical shapes appear. Can we determine the origins of form and design by examining the works of nature? Perhaps the endless display of shapes and forms in nature is not solely a magical display, but the result of an eternal process involving individual elements at play.
For instance, a wardrobe created through countless embroidery trials – this season’s collection resulted not only from design philosophy, but also from close communication with artisans and more in-depth development explorations. Each item has been meticulously crafted.
