The Officine Générale Fall Winter 2024 collection, titled “Paris Will Always Be Paris,” is a heartfelt ode to the City of Light, born from designer Pierre Mahéo‘s whirlwind international business trip that spanned from Seoul to Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, and back to Paris. This collection reflects the brand’s global expansion, as evidenced by the opening of a second boutique on Madison Avenue in New York, marking their fourth in the United States.

The designer’s journey was a fast-paced and diverse exploration of the world’s megacities, offering a fresh perspective on the evolving neighborhoods, lifestyles, and enduring landmarks. Recounting the experiences to his wife, Nina, he noted the striking contrasts: the unexpected quiet of Tokyo’s Jingūmae district on a Saturday afternoon, the anonymity and vibrancy of Seoul, the clear blue skies over Los Angeles, and the newfound calm of Manhattan nights.
This experience of travel, though primarily for business, allowed for the discovery of new things, the exchange of ideas, and a deeper understanding of both others and oneself. It also served as a reminder of the privilege of living in Paris, a city that, despite its roadworks, traffic jams, and pollution, never ceases to inspire with its streets, architecture, beauty, and atmosphere.
“Paris Will Always Be Paris” is a collection that embodies the essence of Parisian life. It was presented in the heart of the city, in a typical Haussmannian building, set against a backdrop as rough as tarmac to emphasize the brand’s commitment to authenticity and practicality.
