The Sacai Fall Winter 2024 Men’s Collection, as well as Womens Pre-Fall, focus on Chitose Abe‘s play on silhouette and unity. Titled “United as One / One Love,” the collections revolve around the uniform, a theme central to Sacai’s values – unity and cohesion.
Abe’s manipulation of words and shapes is evident in her exploration of uniformity, opting for a monochromatic palette that highlights the collection’s forms. This season introduces a round silhouette with voluminous sleeves, and an innovative elongated vertical hybrid featuring long, twisted strips, often enhanced with zippers.
The collection’s reinterpretation of uni-forms is notable, with garment-dyed pastel colors softening the original intent of the garments. Knitwear patterns are reimagined in woven fabrics and sequins, then reshaped into new vertical forms. For men, ultra-baggy pants and bomber jacket/shirt hybrids emerge as new shapes, with the pants designed to create a distinctive silhouette.
Collaboration is also a part of this collection, with artist and street skater Mark Gonzales contributing his artwork through a series of badges. These are applied to his favored Spiewak G8 jacket, resulting in a unique dual collaboration with Sacai. Footwear is also redefined, with J.M. Weston Golf Derbies and Worker boots redesigned with Sacai’s iconic sneaker sole.
