Can Your Garden Inspire Your Interior Design Needs?

Harmonizing your home's interior with garden inspiration

Interior Design

When it comes to interior design, it can be easy to get sidetracked. Making decisions on what kind of design you want can be more challenging than it may first appear. However, one of the best ways to get inspired for your interior design requirements is to take a look at your garden. While we often try to separate the interior from the exterior, you can get some great inspiration by using what is outside.

Searching for gardening tips, as you can find at places like Gardenersyards, can yield some great ideas for how first to get your garden in place. Once you have a garden landscape that you like, though, you might find that some of the features and styles you have utilized become useful for your interior. In fact, many believe that using your exterior to inspire the interior can create more unity in your home.

By having everything feed off one another, you avoid your garden and your interior feeling so detached from one another. While this is not advocating for having grass in your home or the like, using your garden to inspire your interior design needs can be a great way to help bring everything together.

Interior Design

Make Your Interior And Exterior Complement Instead Of Contrast

One of the most common problems we have is making sure the inside of our home matches the outside. For example, you might find you go for a more minimalist design inside and then contrast that with a busy garden. That can sometimes feel a bit off-putting – especially if you intend to go down the route of selling your property. Instead, creating either a minimalist or maximalist approach can yield great returns.

A key aspect of this can come from having a more earthy, natural decoration style. Look for the kind of plants and greenery that you use in your garden: can you think of a good way to add that to the inside?

Garden

Sometimes, something as simple as using flowers or even artificial turf that are similar to those you have outdoors can create a balance that feels right. Natural materials are also a major part of the interior design trend at the moment, with many people focusing on making their homes more sustainable. By allowing the exterior to inspire the interior, you make this process a little less confusing than it is when you try to do things separately.

You might wish to use more naturally inspired materials: wood and stone instead of plastics and acrylics. This tends to also come into the color scheme that you adopt. You might find that you start to use the kind of colors found in your garden – greens, yellows, purples etc.

This adds a more natural colour palette to your interior design, and can help you to settle on an end goal that you are going to be happy with. This creates a more harmonious interior design, while also making sure that any outdoor views no longer feel as contrasting as they did beforehand.

Garden

Another positive factor of complementing your interior design with your garden is to look at the use of space. We all want to avoid being too cluttered but also avoid being overly minimalist and creating a bare, empty-looking property. The best gardens and interior designs are simple and effective – they set out a clear structure and purpose and stick to it. Bringing that same thinking indoors can help.

From the colour schemes to use of space, then, your exterior space might be the inspiration that you are not considering. If you are finding it hard to come up with a cool interior design style, open the curtains. You might just find that the inspiration you are looking for is right outside your window!

Aaaah the beauty of living large and green! Picture this: a spacious home with plenty of room to stretch out, surrounded by lush greenery that brings a sense of peace and tranquility. Sounds pretty dreamy, right?

I believe that everyone should have the right to live in a larger home and have access to green spaces. It’s not just about having more space to move around – although that’s definitely a perk. It’s about creating a space where you can truly thrive, both mentally and physically.

Having access to greenery is like giving your soul a breath of fresh air. It’s amazing what a few plants or a backyard garden can do for your mood and well-being. Plus, it adds a touch of natural beauty to your surroundings that just can’t be beat.

Now, imagine bringing that green goodness right into your living room. Picture floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the outdoors like a living masterpiece, or a cozy nook filled with potted plants and hanging vines. It’s like having your own little slice of paradise right at home.

Connecting your living space to nature isn’t just about aesthetics – although let’s be real, it does look pretty darn stunning. It’s about creating a harmonious environment that nourishes your body, mind, and spirit. It’s about finding peace and serenity in a world that can sometimes feel chaotic and overwhelming.

But this is very elitist way of thinking yes it would be nice hit not everyone can live or afford to live in a house for so many reasons! Its impossible to even rent nowadays …. Onwning a house is far from a universal right of anyone which is unfortunate 😩
