HUBLOT and renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami have joined forces once again to introduce the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow. This new creation brings Murakami’s iconic smiling flower into the world of haute horlogerie, combining artistic expression with advanced watchmaking technology. Limited to just 20 pieces, the timepiece features HUBLOT’s first-ever central tourbillon movement and intricate gem-setting.

Murakami, known for his Superflat art movement, has built a career on blurring the lines between fine art and commercial media. His smiling flower motif, synonymous with his artistic legacy, takes center stage in this collaborative watch, translated into a sapphire sculpture decorated with colorful gemstones. The MP-15 celebrates the shared ethos of breaking boundaries and exceeding expectations that defines both Murakami’s art and HUBLOT’s craftsmanship.
The MP-15 marks an evolution in the ongoing partnership between HUBLOT and Murakami, which began in 2021. Following the success of Murakami’s Classic Fusion models and a collection of NFT artworks, the duo revealed the MP-15 Tourbillon for the Only Watch 2023 charity auction. This latest edition transforms Murakami’s signature smiling flower into a sculptural masterpiece.
Within the 42mm sapphire crystal case lies a central flying tourbillon, a rare and complex mechanical feat. HUBLOT’s HUB9015 manual-winding movement powers the watch with an impressive 120-hour power reserve. The domed sapphire crystal features Murakami’s signature smile, framing the central tourbillon, while two hand tips orbit its edge to display the time in a visually captivating way.
The watch’s twelve petals are set with 444 colorful gemstones, including rubies, sapphires, amethysts, and topazes, each carefully selected to create a rainbow effect. HUBLOT’s expertise in gem-setting shines through in the meticulous arrangement, ensuring each petal reflects Murakami’s vibrant color palette. A transparent strap featuring the flower motif and a sapphire crystal buckle complete the design.
