Kiko Kostadinov’s innovative partnership with ASICS continues to evolve with the introduction of the OTTO 598 Protoblast-CMLVIII. Expanding the London-based designer’s ongoing collaborations with the performance brand, this latest release under Kostadinov’s label brings a refined, normcore approach to one of his favorite ASICS silhouettes.

The Protoblast-CMLVIII builds on the HN2-S Protoblast’s foundation, featuring the same geometric midsole but simplifying the upper design for a sleeker aesthetic. A singular chrome stripe takes center stage on textured green leather uppers, complemented by black leather accents on the collar, eye stays, and heel counter. The addition of a black mesh tongue and green knitted textile lining reinforces the shoe’s understated yet dynamic vibe.
Co-branding details enhance the sneaker’s visual appeal, with “OTTO 598” embroidered on the lateral panels and the minimal “O” logo on the green toebox. ASICS branding appears on the tongue and in green embroidery along the collar, tying the collaboration together seamlessly.
Known for its playful exploration of the unconventional, OTTO 598’s approach here feels refreshingly grounded. Unlike the brand’s previous Suicoke collaboration, which embraced the absurd with a divisive FiveFinger design, the Protoblast-CMLVIII leans into versatility and wearability without sacrificing creativity.
