PUMA Hoops and American basketball player LaMelo Ball are expanding their sneaker lineup with the release of two new lifestyle models: LaFrancé Written in Chrome and Black Written in Chrome. Set to drop on March 12, 2025, these latest additions continue Ball’s collaboration with PUMA, drawing inspiration from early 2000s aesthetics and his personal brand, LaFrancé. The new designs blend futuristic elements with exaggerated streetwear influences, making them a standout addition to the LaFrancé collection.

The LaFrancé Written in Chrome model features a sleek metallic silver upper with high-shine chrome details, giving it a futuristic edge. The LaFrancé branding is integrated into the laces, reinforcing its connection to Ball’s off-court style. Meanwhile, the Black Written in Chrome version offers a darker take on the design, incorporating a smoky black finish while maintaining the same chrome accents. Both sneakers take cues from late ‘90s and early 2000s skate shoes, with a chunky silhouette and bold detailing that align with the resurgence of Y2K fashion.

Beyond aesthetics, these sneakers are designed for everyday wear, merging comfort with standout visuals. The thick rubber sole provides durability, while the cushioned midsole ensures a smooth feel underfoot. Their oversized proportions and structured build echo the exaggerated styles that have gained traction in contemporary sneaker culture.

The LaFrancé collection reflects Ball’s growing influence beyond the basketball court. Known for his unconventional style and fearless fashion choices, the NBA star has carved out a distinct identity in the sneaker space. His partnership with PUMA has already produced several successful releases, including the signature MB series, but the LaFrancé line shifts focus toward lifestyle silhouettes, appealing to those who appreciate high-impact streetwear.
Both versions of the LaFrancé Written in Chrome will be available in a full size run for $110. The sneakers will release on PUMA.com and at select retailers.
