The Red Dot jury praised DOTO for its “exceptional design and high quality,” noting how premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship give the rug its multifaceted appearance. Inspired by the mesmerizing world beneath the ocean’s surface, DOTO features iridescent colors and seamless transitions that evoke a sense of tranquility and depth. The design is a masterful blend of movement and reflection, radiating serenity throughout any space. Hand-knotted in Nepal over several months, Jan Kath rugs are crafted using Tibetan highland wool, Nepalese nettle, and fine Chinese silk. This combination results in a unique texture and subtle sheen, accentuating the intricate details of each piece. The DOTO model showcased measures 2.5 × 3 meters, though custom sizes and color variations are available upon request.

Jan Kath is one of the world’s most sought-after designers of hand-knotted carpets, known for breaking with convention and blending classic oriental motifs with contemporary minimalism. His approach often involves integrating photorealistic imagery into textile art, a technique refined in his Kathmandu workshops.
Drawing inspiration from global travels and the industrial heritage of his native Ruhr region, Kath’s signature style is instantly recognizable and has become influential across the industry. His carpets have received numerous accolades, including the Carpet Design Award, and are exhibited in major art and design museums worldwide.

Jan Kath’s international presence continues to grow, with flagship stores in Bochum, Berlin, Cologne, New York, Munich, Vancouver, and Stuttgart, and further locations planned.
