Fashion house Marni has appointed Belgian designer Meryll Rogge as its new creative director. The announcement comes after Rogge received the Grand Prix at the 2025 ANDAM Fashion Awards and was named Designer of the Year at the Belgian Fashion Awards in 2024. She becomes the first woman to hold the title at Marni and brings with her over a decade of experience in both European and American fashion houses.
Rogge launched her namesake label in 2020, which quickly gained international attention for its conceptual tailoring and subversive approach to femininity. Before founding her own brand, she studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Early in her career, she joined the design team at Marc Jacobs in New York, where she spent nearly seven years. She later returned to Antwerp to serve as Head of Women’s Design at Dries Van Noten, where she also contributed to the house’s beauty division through 2025.
OTB Group and Marni leadership expressed strong support for the appointment. Renzo Rosso, Chairman of OTB, described Rogge’s work as bringing a renewed perspective to Marni’s design language. According to Rosso, her concept for the brand demonstrated a clear understanding of its values while proposing a direction that extends into accessories, interiors, communication, and project-based work.
Stefano Rosso, CEO of Marni, welcomed Rogge with confidence in her ability to lead the house forward. He referred to her as an inspiring voice in fashion and emphasized the impact her leadership could have on shaping Marni’s next phase.
In her statement, Rogge described Marni as a house she has long respected for its independent position within the industry. She called the opportunity both humbling and energizing and acknowledged the legacy of the creative figures who came before her. Rogge also thanked the OTB Group for their trust and described a shared connection between her approach and the values of the brand.
Rogge’s appointment reflects a change in course for Marni, with expectations for a multi-category focus under her direction. The house has long maintained a distinct identity through unconventional proportions, color-driven design, and a curiosity toward material. Rogge’s work, known for its precise construction and off-beat elegance, suggests continuity with a push toward more global resonance.
