PUMA is set to release the V-S1 on July 12, 2025, a lifestyle sneaker directly influenced by its early 2000s football boot series. The V-S1 borrows its core design language from the V1.06 and V1.08 cleats, lightweight models originally built for speed on the pitch, and retools those features for the street.
The sneaker introduces a low-profile construction with an asymmetrical lacing system, a detail pulled from the performance cleats. The heel includes a molded cage for structure, recalling the external support features of early speed boots. The upper combines mesh, textured leather, and perforated overlays, offering dimension while referencing the mixed-material designs once used to reduce weight on football boots.

The launch includes two colorways. One arrives in a full Gold finish, a visual nod to tournament kits and victory celebrations. The second features a White-Silver makeup, offering a more neutral take while retaining the same technical cues. Both reflect the influence of the sport without relying on replica aesthetics.
PUMA originally introduced the V-series to shift football boot design toward minimal weight and higher velocity. The V1 models used ultra-thin Schoeller ConTec textile, just 0.4mm thick. and carbon fiber soleplates adapted from racing technology. These innovations gave the line its “V” name, short for “velocity.”

The V-S1 translates this performance-first philosophy into a street context. While it doesn’t feature carbon fiber, the sneaker channels the fast, aerodynamic visual language of the original series. The heel cage creates shape and structure similar to what was once used to stabilize the rearfoot on pitch, now reimagined for daily use.
The outsole includes rubber designed for urban surfaces, with a tread pattern that takes cues from turf traction plates. This football-to-street crossover fits into PUMA’s broader product strategy, which has also seen the return of silhouettes like the King Indoor and Avanti, both rooted in football culture.

Retailing at $140, the V-S1 will be available through PUMA.com and select global retailers starting July 12.
