The first trailer for Together, the highly anticipated directorial debut from Australian filmmaker Michael Shanks, has officially arrived. Described as a twisted, emotionally charged blend of supernatural horror and body horror, the film stars real-life couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco as a pair whose countryside escape spirals into an unrecognizable nightmare.

After generating strong buzz at its 2025 Sundance Film Festival premiere, where it was screened in the Midnight section and quickly picked up by NEON in a $17 million deal, Together is now set to hit U.S. theaters on July 30, followed by releases in Australia on July 31 via Kismet Movies and in the UK on August 15.
The trailer teases an eerie descent into isolation and transformation. Brie plays Millie, while Franco takes on the role of Tim, a couple attempting to rebuild their relationship in the quiet of rural life. Instead, they’re confronted by a mysterious force that begins reshaping not only their bond but their bodies in increasingly grotesque ways.
Filmed between Australia and the U.S., Together also features performances from Damon Herriman, Mia Morrissey, Karl Richmond, and Sunny S. Walia. Behind the lens is cinematographer Germain McMicking, with editing by Sean Lahiff and an unsettling original score by Cornel Wilczek. The production comes from 30West, Tango Entertainment, Picturestart, and others, with producers including Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Mike Cowap, and Erik Feig.
The film opened the Sydney Film Festival in June and holds a perfect 100% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, further solidifying its status as one of this year’s breakout indie titles. While it has been shadowed by a pending copyright lawsuit regarding alleged similarities to another film, Shanks has firmly denied the claims, stating his script predates any such comparisons and was inspired by his own marriage.

With its unsettling imagery, sharp psychological undertones, and the real-life chemistry of its lead actors, Together promises a summer horror release that doesn’t shy away from emotional rawness, or physical disintegration. Watch the trailer now and prepare for a film that dares to ask: what happens when the person you love begins to transform into something unrecognizable?
