adidas Originals expands its collaborative catalog with a two-piece release inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants as the animated series heads back to cinemas for its second feature film. The partnership builds on the show’s twenty-five-year legacy and channels two of its most recognisable characters into distinct footwear concepts.

The Stan Smith Freizeit SpongeBob shoe starts with the familiar Stan Smith base and shifts it toward the clean, cartoonish structure of SpongeBob’s dress shoes. adidas constructs the upper in glossy black patent leather and keeps the silhouette sharp through a tonal debossed tongue logo. A chunky ridged rubber outsole adds volume and gives the shoe a direct link to the exaggerated footwear drawn in the show.
adidas pushes the character reference further through lace tips modeled after SpongeBob’s socks. Inside, a graphic sockliner includes a removable layer that reveals a squished Plankton illustration. The box follows the same narrative direction, using a pineapple print to reference SpongeBob’s home and including a boating license accessory to complete the concept.
The Superstar II Patrick Star turns its focus toward SpongeBob’s closest companion. adidas builds the shoe in vapour pink premium suede and adds tonal detailing with black stripes that cut through the upper. The brand develops alternating tongue lining embroidery based on designs lifted from several memorable episodes.
The outsole introduces a translucent ocean graphic that reinforces Patrick’s underwater world. Patrick’s shorts influence the sockliners and extra laces, which add a direct link to his character design. The box mirrors the look of Patrick’s rock home, creating a complete package that stays faithful to his setting.
Both pairs reflect adidas Originals’ effort to translate well-known animated elements into footwear without straying from the familiar shapes of the Stan Smith and Superstar lines.
