New Balance will release the 1906L Loafer in the “Black/Angora” colorway in Spring 2026. Officially unveiled as part of the brand’s expanding 1906 line, the model reframes the technical foundation of the 1906R running shoe within the format of a classic slip-on loafer.

The 1906L first drew attention during its debut on the Junya Watanabe runway in Paris, where its unexpected proportions and familiar tooling immediately stood apart. Rather than functioning as a novelty, the silhouette translated recognizable elements of New Balance’s performance running archive into a new context.
In the “Black/Angora” execution, the shoe adopts a restrained, high-contrast palette that brings focus to its construction. A jet-black mesh base forms the foundation of the upper, echoing the breathable structure associated with the original running model. Glossy synthetic leather overlays sit atop the mesh.
