Golden Globe Awards 83 took place on January 11, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The ceremony honored achievements in film and television, with One Battle After Another, Hamnet, and Adolescence receiving the most recognition.
Nikki Glaser hosted the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, opening with a monologue that blended sharp roast humor with genuine respect for her subjects, drawing on their public personas. She playfully teased stars including George Clooney, Sean Penn, Kevin Hart, Michael B. Jordan, and Leonardo DiCaprio, saving the edgiest jokes for those who could take them in stride. Glaser closed with affectionate impersonations and a reminder that, while the awards may not be the most important event in the world, they still hold significance for the artists who create the work and the audiences who appreciate it.

In film, One Battle After Another led the ceremony. The Warner Bros. Discovery release entered the night with nine nominations and secured four awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Paul Thomas Anderson received Best Director and Best Screenplay, while Teyana Taylor won Best Supporting Actress, marking the first acting win of the night and her first Golden Globe victory.
Best Motion Picture – Drama went to Hamnet. Jessie Buckley won Best Actress – Drama, while director Chloé Zhao received nominations for directing and screenplay.
Other major film wins included Best Actor – Drama for Wagner Moura in The Secret Agent, which also won Best Non-English Language Motion Picture. Sinners won Best Original Score and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Motion Picture and Best Original Song for “Golden.” Timothée Chalamet and Rose Byrne led acting wins in musical or comedy categories, while Stellan Skarsgård won Best Supporting Actor.

TV
Television awards showed even stronger concentration. Adolescence led all television titles with four wins, including Best Limited Series and acting awards for Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and Owen Cooper, all first-time Globe nominees. The Pitt won Best Drama Series, The Studio won Best Comedy Series, and Hacks continued its awards run with Jean Smart winning Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
Age and longevity surfaced directly during the evening. Jean Smart, accepting her award at age 74, later addressed persistent gender disparities in available roles, referencing long-standing imbalances between male and female casting opportunities. Stellan Skarsgård, also 74, acknowledged expectations tied to age during his acceptance speech, stating that he did not anticipate a win because of it. Their remarks introduced an explicit generational dimension into the ceremony’s discourse.
Honorary awards were presented ahead of the broadcast. Helen Mirren received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Sarah Jessica Parker received the Carol Burnett Award.
