On March 19, 2026, ic! berlin celebrated its 30th anniversary marking three decades of boundary-pushing design, technical innovation, and a relentless commitment to unconventional thinking.
EYEWAER
What began in 1996 in a small Berlin apartment has grown into a globally recognized eyewear brand, shaped by the raw creative energy of a newly reunited city. From the very beginning, ic! berlin has challenged traditional design through engineering excellence, redefining what eyewear can be.

The anniversary was brought to life on March 19 with an immersive, multi-sensory event in Berlin, gathering a new generation of tastemakers, creatives, and long-time collaborators. The celebration unfolded across three distinct moments: an exclusive factory tour offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at ic! berlin’s craftsmanship, an intimate dinner set within the unique atmosphere of Feuerle Collection, and a vibrant cocktail party dedicated to the launch of the 30th Anniversary Capsule collection. Blending design, culture, and experience, the evening reflected the essence of the brand innovative, creative, and deeply connected to its Berlin roots.

For three decades, ic! berlin has stood at the forefront of eyewear innovation. Its pioneering use of cold-rolled stainless steel and its patented screwless hinge have become defining elements of the brand delivering ultra-lightweight, flexible, and durable frames with unmistakable precision. Every frame is designed and handcrafted in Berlin, reflecting a philosophy that merges minimalist aesthetics with advanced engineering. This commitment to quality and innovation has positioned ic! berlin as a leader in modern eyewear.
The 30th Anniversary Capsule Collection

At the heart of the celebration is a special capsule collection that bridges heritage and innovation. The collection revisits four iconic stainless-steel frames LEIF, WANDA, OLI THE 2ND, and PINA alongside two new styles, SODIUM and XENON. Together, they reflect the brand’s evolution while staying true to its core identity. A defining element is the emphasis on material purity: polished stainless steel is enhanced through natural treatments, eliminating excess and highlighting authenticity. The introduction of Transformative Teal a rich blend of blue and green adds a contemporary dimension, symbolizing change, balance, and forward momentum. All styles in this color feature photochromic lenses that adapt seamlessly to light conditions, combining innovation with everyday functionality.

Central to the anniversary is the “I See Berlin” campaign a tribute to the independent and ever-evolving spirit of the German capital. Shot by Berlin-based photographer Tarek Mawad, with digital artistic direction by Leif Podhajsky, the campaign presents Berlin through the eyes of its contemporary cultural protagonists. Among them are Sven Marquardt, whose work has shaped Berlin’s nightlife identity; Dalad Kambhu, a Michelin-starred chef known for blending innovation with authenticity; Nina Pohl, a key figure in the city’s art scene; Nunguja Kisalya, redefining contemporary club sound; Thilo Reich, who transforms urban materials into sculptural works; and Youngchan Moon, whose performances merge classical and digital expression. Through their perspectives, Berlin emerges not just as a backdrop, but as a living, breathing influence one that continues to shape the identity of ic! berlin.
