Danielle Frankel presents Collection XI as a continuation of her study of refined technique and a shifting approach to bridal expression. The collection arrives through a series of images created with photographer Paolo Roversi, whose treatment of light and portraiture introduces a quiet sense of intimacy.
BRIDAL
Throughout the collection, sculptural draping drives the conversation between structure and movement. Silk and wool form the base of this exploration, layered with corded lace that undergoes re-embroidery and hand-cut techniques. These processes reveal transparency and depth. The surface evolves through deliberate intervention, giving each look a defined presence.
Smocking and ribboned techniques contour the body with precision before releasing into elongated, fluid forms. This transition creates a sense of progression within each piece. The garments follow the line of the body while maintaining their own structure.
Surface treatments introduce further variation across the collection. Radiating embroideries extend outward with measured placement, while dip-dyed ombré tones shift from lilac to oxblood, creating a gradual transformation of color. Reworked pigment-printed silks add another layer of complexity, offering visual depth through subtle shifts in tone and texture.
Material experimentation continues through woven silk and metal textiles, which unravel into cascading, fringe-like movement. These fabrics respond to motion with a sense of lightness, contrasting with the structured elements found elsewhere in the collection. Collection XI defines Frankel’s perspective on bridal and occasion wear. Couture techniques anchor the work, while an unexpected approach to romance shapes its direction.
