Jil Sander presents Hood as part of the Spring Summer 2026 collection, marking a new footwear direction under Simone Bellotti. The shoe develops within a design approach that draws from the everyday and the familiar, focusing on forms that carry a sense of use and continuity. Bellotti frames the project through reduction, shaping a silhouette that relies on proportion and construction.
SHOES
Hood takes its starting point from a classic moccasin. The design follows that reference closely, then reduces it to its core structure. The result keeps the recognizable outline while removing excess elements, allowing the form itself to define the shoe. This approach reflects Bellotti’s focus on objects that feel grounded in daily life, shaped through observation.

The upper features a moc toe construction in smooth leather. Its rounded shape carries a slower, more relaxed quality, maintaining the character associated with the original reference. The surface remains clean, without interruption, directing attention toward the overall proportion of the shoe. The material supports this direction, offering a consistent texture.

Traditional moccasins often rest on a crepe base, which gives weight and density to the silhouette. Hood replaces this with a thin rubber sole. This change reduces the visual and physical weight of the shoe, altering how it sits and moves. The adjustment brings a different balance, keeping the structure intact while introducing a lighter presence.

The shift to a thinner sole repositions the silhouette while keeping its identity intact, adjusting proportion and weight through a more reduced form. The rounded upper paired with the lighter base creates a controlled shape focused on structure and material. This approach reflects Bellotti’s direction for Jil Sander, where continuity comes through precise adjustments, allowing the shoe to stay close to its reference. The shoe is available in smooth black leather for both women and men. It is offered through Jil Sander boutiques and on the brand’s official website.
