Sunrise Films has released the official trailer for April X, a psychological sci-fi thriller starring Connor Storrie and Lilly Krug. Directed by Michel K. Parandi, the film will open in U.S. theaters on September 18, 2026, following its festival premiere in 2025.

The story follows twins Bax, played by Storrie, and April, played by Krug. After April disappears, Bax searches the futuristic, post-Soviet city for his sister. His search gradually consumes him and sends him into madness. The premise combines science fiction, psychological thriller elements and noir influences within a near-future setting. Producer Lavinia Postolache has connected the film’s story to questions of identity, guilt and human connection, themes that develop through Bax’s search and his increasingly unstable perception of what surrounds him.
The newly released trailer introduces the film’s central mystery through Bax’s increasingly desperate attempt to locate April. The footage places the twins within a cyberpunk environment where technology, surveillance and urban decay shape the visual language of the story. The disappearance gives Bax a direct objective while his deteriorating mental state drives the film deeper into psychological territory.
Parandi co-wrote the screenplay with Jack Coulton, with Nathan Haugaard behind the cinematography. The supporting cast includes Tudor Chirilă, Șerban Pavlu and Tourialay Akbari, joining Storrie and Krug in the film’s futuristic setting. The film was produced by Lavinia Postolache through Lavi Star. Sunrise Films executive Andrew Nerger has described April X as a high-concept sci-fi thriller shaped by cyberpunk design, suspense and Storrie’s lead performance.
Storrie arrives at April X following his breakout role as Ilya Rozanov in Heated Rivalry. Before the series brought him wider recognition, the American actor appeared in independent projects and played Liam Hauser in the 2023 drama Riley. He later appeared in Joker: Folie à Deux before landing Heated Rivalry, where he learned Russian and developed an accent for the role. Krug, a German actress from Munich, has built her film career through projects including Every Breath You Take, Shattered, Zero Contact and Plane.
