CAMPILLO Grounds Spring Summer 2027 in Mexican Identity

The collection revisits charro tailoring through altered proportions, horsehair and fluid fabrics.

CAMPILLO presented its Spring Summer 2027 collection, In Medias Res, in New York City in partnership with Tequila Don Julio. The Latin phrase means “in the midst of things” and describes a story that begins already in motion. Patricio Campillo applies that idea to nostalgia, treating memory as a way to preserve experiences that naturally fade over time.

SPRING SUMMER 2027

The collection continues CAMPILLO’s ongoing conversation with Mexican identity, charro culture and contemporary fashion. Campillo focuses on the way memory changes what it holds, leaving behind impressions instead of exact records. That idea shapes the design process itself, with fittings becoming active spaces for cutting, pinning, draping and shifting proportions in real time.

Unexpected gestures remain visible throughout the collection. Shirts slip from shoulders, jackets open to expose additional layers and fabrics fold around the body in irregular ways. Campillo preserves these moments instead of correcting them, allowing garments to remain suspended in transitional states. Precise construction and draping hold each look in place while retaining a sense of spontaneity.

Materials extend this study of change. Horsehair, already part of CAMPILLO’s design vocabulary, appears through new treatments and applications across shirts, skirts and jackets. Silk and crepe create fluid surfaces, while sculptural onyx introduces weight and permanence. The collection also uses a biologically derived polymer produced by bacteria, bringing a material created through a living process into contact with traditional materials.

CAMPILLO expands its vocabulary through jewelry and accessories in silver and onyx. Stone and metal introduce fixed forms alongside garments shaped by movement, folding and shifting volume. The contrast gives the collection a stronger physical structure while supporting its focus on change over time.

Traditional charro codes appear throughout the season through cropped and elongated proportions, layering and altered volume. Campillo reworks familiar tailoring through contemporary silhouettes, mixing structured shapes with softer fabrics and more fluid construction. A broad color range and unexpected material combinations further define the collection.

The partnership with Tequila Don Julio continues through a new Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino Artist Edition Bottle designed by Campillo. The bottle debuted during the runway show with the East River and Brooklyn Bridge in view. Its design draws from El Puente Eterno, the brand’s Día de Muertos campaign, and references the cempasúchil bridge believed to guide loved ones home.

Footwear also extends the collection through a collaboration with Mariano Shoes, part of APICCAPS, the Portuguese Footwear Association. The partnership allowed CAMPILLO to work with Portuguese leather and footwear through Mexican references. Select looks featured Nike footwear as part of the brand’s ongoing relationship with CAMPILLO.
