Rio Uribe returns to the fashion calendar with his namesake label RIO, presenting the Spring Summer 2027 collection, “HORIZONS,” at The Lighthouse, part of Whalar Group in Brooklyn, New York. The collection begins with the image of a pink house in Mexico set against a broad blue sky, with the architecture of Luis Barragán providing its initial point of reference.

SPRING SUMMER 2027

Barragán’s use of geometry, saturated color, light and nature informs Uribe’s approach to the season. “HORIZONS” considers the anticipation that comes with looking forward, focusing on new life, growth and fresh beginnings. Sun-faded pinks, deep cyan indigos and succulent greens establish the collection’s palette and connect its clothing to the architectural and natural environments behind the concept.

Uribe translates plant life directly into the materials. Blue botanical cyanotypes appear as individual prints, with each one turning plants into photographic fabric. The process gives every print its own character while keeping nature physically present within the garments.

Natural dyeing adds another layer to the collection. RIO uses beets and berries to color shirting and denim, introducing variations that come directly from organic materials. Uribe also returns to materials from earlier projects, using repurposed wood and aluminum to create jewelry for the season.

Plant forms influence the silhouettes as well. Flowers and carnivorous plants provide references for shapes and construction, allowing natural structures to inform the proportions of the clothing. These references connect the collection’s physical forms with its larger interest in growth and regeneration.

“HORIZONS” also considers fashion as a cyclical system. Uribe links its recurring periods of activity, scarcity, growth and dormancy to patterns found in nature. The collection arrives at a moment when he sees renewed creative energy and fresh possibility. That idea gives the title its meaning: the horizon becomes a point ahead, associated with optimism and the potential for another beginning.

RIO presents the collection at The Lighthouse, a creative campus with locations in Brooklyn, New York, and Venice Beach, California. The space supports career creators and creative professionals, giving them a place to connect, collaborate, learn, exchange ideas and develop their businesses within creative culture.

The Lighthouse also played a direct role in the development of “HORIZONS.” RIO used the Brooklyn space throughout the collection’s creation, from open model castings and fittings to previews and the final runway presentation. The campus became a base for Uribe’s working process and for the community surrounding the label.
