Nadège Vanhee arrived at Hermès Spring Summer 2027 with a singular vision: to choreograph weightlessness. The collection unfolds as an ode to air itself, where silhouettes move with the ease of breath, and every seam serves a dual purpose, marrying craft with motion. There is no decoration here, only intention, only the precise language of minimalism refined into sculpture.
The opening moves are declarative. A yellow silk shirt, its front panels cut with geometric ribbon appliqués in cognac leather, refuses ornamentation and instead embraces structural contradiction: the straps that cross its surface function as both visual rhythm and functional restraint. Beside it, a cream knit dress dissolves into transparency, its honeycomb openwork rendering the body as silhouette. A white parka billows like a parachute, catching air in its folds, while calfskin jackets crisp on the shoulder with the texture of paper. Each piece whispers rather than shouts. Each piece breathes.
The collection’s technical innovations ground its atmospheric poetry. Hi-tech engineered essentials redefine what lightness can mean in tailoring. Wide trousers split at the side seam with concealed zips that open for ventilation, freeing the leg. A column skirt in Brise de Charme print silk unzips into sculptural draping. Graphic lattices of fine leather strips are embroidered onto mesh with the precision of a Japanese stencil, creating an interplay of solid and void that reads as almost textile, almost drawing. The iconic Hermès scarf becomes architecture here, woven into the construction of silhouettes rather than draped across them.

Color moves through the collection like the arc of daylight. Bleu brume captures the misty freshness of dawn. Jaune tournesol (the sunflower yellow) blazes with the radiance of golden hour. Rust and burgundy tones carry the warmth of lingering sunset. The palette is restrained but articulate, each hue chosen to illuminate rather than distract.
What distinguishes this Spring Summer 2027 collection is its refusal of artifice. There are no drapes for draping’s sake, no volume without function. Modular pieces play with proportion, their adjustable cords and belts offering both versatility and a kinetic quality. The silhouette remains columnar, minimal, almost austere, yet somehow the collection feels generous. That generosity comes from freedom: the freedom of air, the freedom of movement, the freedom of garments engineered so intelligently that they disappear into the body.

The invisible, Vanhee suggests, is where luxury truly lives. Her answer to summer is not escape into ornamentation but into the invisible infrastructure of perfect proportion and technical prowess. It is a vision that rewards close looking, and it is, without question, a masterclass in contemporary design.
