In collaboration with Dutch artist Ruth van Beek, Marni launched women’s mini-collection for the Spring Summer 2017 season.
This project finds its origin in Marni’s passion for art and incessant search for the most interesting personalities to collaborate with. Ruth van Beek’s rigorous yet ironically naïve approach mirrors Marni’s love for composition free from predefined concepts. The artist predominantly uses collage, arranging photographic material and designs which she draws from a constantly evolving personal archive. Unexpected layered images take shape through the use of cuts, folds and contrasts, with soft colors and a clear reference to elements of nature such as exotic plants and flowers. The illustrations created by Ruth van Beek light up cotton jersey t-shirts and tops, poplin shirts, anoraks and coloured PVC shopping bags. Focusing on images created by superimposition, Marni puts the artist’s work at the centre of the most representative prints of the S/S 2017 collection. – from Marni
