The H&M Studio Spring Summer 2024 collection, launching on 29 February 2024, highlights fashion’s continuous engagement with the past, notably drawing inspiration from the laid-back style of the 1970s, all while embracing the current trend towards practical clothing choices. This season’s offerings are a celebration of effortless style, encapsulating the spirit of freedom and adventure that defined the musical artists of the 70s. The collection is characterized by its relaxed-fit suits, flowing dresses, and sumptuous accessories, all designed to convey quiet confidence and understated elegance.

Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s creative advisor and head of design for womenswear, emphasizes the collection’s focus on practicality, blending beautifully-cut contemporary pieces that spark desire. The objective was to create a wardrobe that easily transitions from day to night and from one season to the next, embodying the laid-back ease and sophistication of the era.

The Spring Summer 2024 lineup rejuvenates wardrobe classics with modern details that speak to the current fashion landscape. A pale-blue leather coat stands out for its simple sophistication, alongside a sharp-shouldered blazer, a nod to H&M Studio’s archival pieces. The collection also features fitted and flared denim, rhinestone-speckled loungewear, and as evening approaches, a snakeskin-printed minidress and a burnt-orange maxi dress that strike subtly retro notes.

Accessories play a significant role in this collection, with smooth knee-high leather boots, low-heeled leather mules, and bold rhinestone jewellery completing the look. The signature padded H&M Studio bag makes a comeback in a scaled-down, snakeskin-printed version.

H&M Studio’s commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in the choice of materials, which include chrome-free leather, premium wool, organic cotton, and Infinna – a cellulose fiber made from post-consumer textiles. The H&M Studio Spring Summer 2024 campaign, featuring Italian model Vittoria Ceretti against a diverse natural backdrop, captures the essence of the collection through the lens of photographer Dan Jackson.

Linda Wikell, concept designer at H&M Studio, shares that the design team envisioned a free-spirited, creative individual ready for adventure. Drawing inspiration from 1970s wardrobe staples and infusing them with contemporary cool, the collection is curated with hero items like a statement leather coat and versatile knee-high boots. These pieces are designed to be mixed and matched in various combinations, offering a fresh take on classic silhouettes with a modern twist.
