Future and Metro Boomin released their highly anticipated second collaboration, “We Still Don’t Trust You,” today, April 12. This album arrives just three weeks after their initial joint effort, “We Don’t Trust You,” and continues to build on the themes of skepticism and trust, or the lack thereof, within the industry and beyond. Released under the combined powerhouse labels of Freebandz, Epic Records, Boominati Worldwide, and Republic Records, this new set promises to be a significant milestone in both artists’ careers.

MUSIC

Coming off the heels of “We Don’t Trust You,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the project showcases the undeniable chemistry between Future and Metro Boomin. Their first collaboration featured the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit single “Like That,” featuring Kendrick Lamar. This track, in particular, sparked significant conversation within the rap community, and even caught the attention of heavyweights Drake and J. Cole. The latter responded with “7 Minute Drill” from his surprise project “Might Delete Later,” only to later call his own response “the lamest s–t” at his Dreamville Fest.

Beyond the controversies and collaborations, “We Don’t Trust You” set a high bar, featuring a stellar lineup of guest appearances from The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Rick Ross. It boasted the second largest week by equivalent album units earned in 2024, only trailing behind Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter.” For Metro Boomin, it marked his fourth No. 1 album, while Future celebrated his ninth.

The anticipation for “We Still Don’t Trust You” has been palpable, with fans eager to see how the duo would evolve their sound and message. While the full impact of the album is yet to be seen, early listens suggest a blend of introspective lyrics, innovative beats, and perhaps a continuation of the candid commentary that has defined their collaboration thus far.

Future and Metro Boomin are not just stopping with album releases. Following a co-headlining spot at Rolling Loud California in Hollywood Park, Inglewood, Calif., in March, the duo is set to take the stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park this August. Metro Boomin also has performances lined up at the Great Pyramids complex in Giza, Egypt, later this month and at the Promiseland Festival in October, showcasing their global appeal and relentless work ethic.

Yo, let’s talk about Future for a sec. Dude’s been dropping albums left, right, and center lately, and you can’t help but wonder: why the rush, right?

From an industry perspective, it’s all about staying relevant and keeping those streams flowing. In the rap game, consistency is key, and Future knows that better than anyone. By churning out albums on the regular, he’s keeping his name buzzing in the streets and his music fresh in our ears.

Plus, let’s not forget about the hustle. Future’s got that work ethic on lock, and he’s not about to slow down anytime soon. For him, making music isn’t just a passion – it’s a way of life. And hey, if the man’s got fire tracks up his sleeve, why hold back? Sure, some might argue that quality over quantity is the way to go, but Future’s proving that you can have both. He’s dropping bangers like it’s nobody’s business, and his fans are eating it up.

So, next time you see another Future album pop up on your playlist, just remember: the man’s on a mission, and he’s not stopping until he’s on top of the game.

Keep doing your thing, Future. We’ll be vibing to those beats every step of the way.
