McQueen Fall Winter 2024 Campaign: A Raw Tribute to London’s Eclectic Spirit

Creative Director Seán McGirr Captures the Renegade Glamour and Primal Energy of East London

The McQueen Fall Winter 2024 campaign, directed by Seán McGirr, is a vibrant homage to London’s eclectic spirit and raw energy. Set against the gritty yet glamorous backdrop of East London, the campaign vividly captures the city’s diverse youth as they navigate its concrete banks and sprawling streets, embodying a sense of renegade glamour. McGirr’s vision emphasizes the primal and poetic tensions that define London, creating an imaginative narrative.

The campaign’s style is a tactile exploration of texture and form. From the twisted and taut silhouettes to the animal opulence of tufted denim, each piece is designed to evoke a visceral response. Razor-sharp suiting encrusted with shattered jet-stones adds an element of danger and sophistication, while the intricate details of the clothing reflect the London’s rugged elegance.

Accessories play a crucial role in the McQueen Fall Winter 2024 collection. The Sling bag, with its hard metal T-bar buckle and rich oxblood leather, is both a statement piece and a practical accessory, strapped tightly and held close to the body. This same buckle theme extends to the Fringe loafer, adding a sense of restrained energy and cohesion to the collection. The designs balance constriction and cocooning, creating outfits that feel both instinctive and luxurious.

The campaign’s photography, led by Glen Luchford, complements McGirr’s creative direction with striking visuals that highlight the tactile quality of the garments. The styling by Marie Chaix, makeup by Daniel Sallstrom, and hair by Gary Gill further enhance the campaign’s aesthetic, creating a cohesive and compelling visual narrative.

Seán McGirr, an Irish national and a graduate of Central Saint Martins, took on the role of Creative Director at McQueen in December 2023. His previous experience at JW Anderson, Dries Van Noten, Uniqlo, and Burberry has equipped him with a unique perspective that he brings to McQueen.

The McQueen Fall Winter 2024 campaign is an example of brand’s enduring connection to London and its vibrant cultural landscape. Through a combination of rigorous design and raw emotion, McGirr and his team have created a collection that is both timeless and contemporary, capturing the essence of London’s unique energy and translating it into a powerful fashion narrative.
