Audi’s latest addition to its acclaimed A5 family marks a significant leap in hybrid technology. The new Audi A5 Avant e-hybrid quattro and Sedan e-hybrid quattro models have been introduced with two distinct power levels, offering drivers outputs of 220 kW and 270 kW. Combining a 2.0 TFSI combustion engine with a powerful electric motor, these vehicles deliver dynamic acceleration and exceptional fuel efficiency, highlighting Audi’s continued innovation in sustainable mobility.

Central to the new e-hybrid models is a sophisticated high-voltage battery system positioned at the rear of the vehicle. Audi engineers have managed an impressive 45% increase in battery capacity, now at 25.9 kWh (net 20.7 kWh). This substantial upgrade enhances the electric driving range to an impressive 110 kilometers, making electric-only commuting increasingly practical for daily drivers. Complementing the extended range, the advanced battery can now be fully charged in just 2.5 hours, thanks to increased AC charging power of 11 kW.

Audi has optimized regenerative braking performance, enabling the new models to recover energy efficiently. Drivers can control the recuperation intensity directly via steering wheel paddles, adjusting to three levels of energy recovery. The integration of Predictive Efficiency Assistant (PEA) further refines recuperation by anticipating road conditions based on navigation data, enhancing the vehicle’s efficiency without compromising on driving dynamics.
Intelligent hybrid management is at the heart of the Audi A5 e-hybrid experience. Two operating modes, “EV” for fully electric driving and “hybrid” mode, offer tailored driving experiences. The hybrid mode cleverly manages battery charge, maintaining optimal energy levels for urban journeys. Additionally, a digital slider feature allows drivers to set specific charge levels, preparing the vehicle’s battery strategically for future electric-only use.

Performance figures underline the vehicle’s sporty credentials. The higher-powered 270 kW variant propels from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds, with all versions reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Accompanying this robust performance is an elevated standard of equipment. The sportier 270 kW e-hybrid models feature the S line exterior package, black styling details, privacy glazing, LED headlights plus, and sport suspension, accentuating their athletic character.

Audi’s commitment to practicality is evident in the thoughtful design of the vehicle interiors and cargo spaces. The Avant offers up to 1,306 liters of storage space with rear seats folded, while the Sedan provides 1,175 liters. Convenience and comfort are prioritized with standard 3-zone automatic air conditioning, auxiliary air conditioning capabilities, heated front seats, and advanced infotainment systems, including the MMI panoramic display and Audi smartphone interface. Launching at competitive prices ranging from €62,500 to €72,550, these new e-hybrids represent a strategic step forward in Audi’s electrified offerings, available for European orders starting March 27, 2025, and set to arrive in dealerships in April.
