Converse expands its 1908 archival revival program this season with new editions of the Naut-1 and Coach Jogger, both curated by Tyler, The Creator. Launching August 12, the drop introduces fresh colorways while preserving the design DNA that shaped these silhouettes decades ago. The update continues 1908’s mission to reintroduce historic Converse styles through a contemporary lens, bringing over a century of design influence into today’s market.
The Naut-1 takes its inspiration from Converse’s early nautical footwear, first seen in 1913 as a yachting shoe and refined over the decades into a fully fledged boating model. By the early 1970s, the Naut-1 had become a recognized staple for sailors and coastal communities. Its functional design set it apart: canvas uppers offered durability, non-corroding eyelets with a drilled sponge ensured quick drying, and the amber herringbone tread delivered reliable grip on wet decks. Later iterations integrated direct injection construction and added unique details like a sailboat wheel motif on the outsole.
Tyler revisits this maritime classic with modernized updates that maintain the practical qualities of the original. This season, the Naut-1 arrives in Molten Lava, Reseda, and Green Tambourine, each paired with subtle accent tones. The design retains its lightweight build and versatile style, serving both as a nod to its heritage and as a functional shoe for everyday wear.
The Coach Jogger represents a different chapter of Converse history, one rooted in the rise of recreational running during the 1970s. Introduced in 1976, the model emerged from Converse’s performance footwear lineage, which had already produced notable track and court designs. The Jogger’s wedge sole and wrap-around heel support provided comfort and stability, making it a favorite among runners and fitness enthusiasts of the time.
Tyler’s updated version preserves the Jogger’s retro-athletic character while reimagining it for modern use. This release includes the Gleam and Tap Shoe colorways, each layering multiple tones to create a fresh but era-conscious look. While the aesthetic connects to the past, the materials and finish speak to current streetwear sensibilities, ensuring the Jogger fits as easily into lifestyle wardrobes as it does into sport-inspired collections.
The Converse 1908 Naut-1 and Coach Jogger in their new Tyler, The Creator-selected colorways will see a limited global release on August 12 through Converse and GOLF le FLEUR*. Sizes range from 3 to 12, with select extended sizes available. Prices are set at $90 for the Naut-1 and $100 for the Coach Jogger.
