Jordan Brand introduces the Heir Series 2 as the next chapter in its women’s basketball footwear line. The brand created the shoe to answer the speed, intensity, and creative demands that define the women’s game. The Heir Series 2 draws directly from player insight gathered at multiple levels of competition, translating lived experience on the court into functional design decisions.

Women’s basketball places sustained demands on footwork, lateral shifts, and repeated acceleration. Jordan Brand designed the Heir Series 2 to support these conditions by refining how the shoe responds during cuts and direction changes. The silhouette builds on the original Heir Series by reinforcing its focus on running and cutting while introducing updates intended to support faster play and extended court time. Each adjustment connects directly to feedback gathered from athletes competing at multiple levels.

Napheesa Collier, a Jordan Brand athlete and five-time WNBA All-Star, describes footwork as central to her game and links that requirement to the Heir Series 2’s structure. She points to flexibility and stability as key factors that allow consistent performance on offense and defense.

The Heir Series 2 introduces a new forefoot Air Zoom unit designed to deliver responsiveness during rapid sequences of play. Women’s basketball features frequent changes in direction and continuous activity, and the shoe supports that pattern through energy return at the front of the foot. A thicker drop-in Cushlon 3.0 midsole adds underfoot comfort, while an added layer of foam above the outsole increases cushioning during prolonged wear.

Support and flexibility operate together within the shoe’s structure. Zoom Air works in combination with layered cushioning to maintain stability without limiting foot articulation. A translucent TPU cage provides containment while keeping the build lightweight. The rubber herringbone traction pattern supports grip and directional control, assisting athletes during sharp cuts and shifts that define game flow.

Jordan Brand also integrates practical details informed by the habits of women hoopers. A removable hair tie attaches at the heel, acknowledging on-court needs. The color range reflects the influence women athletes hold within basketball culture, reinforcing visibility through design.

Leo Chang, Senior Creative Director for Jordan Brand Basketball and Sport, frames the Heir Series as recognition of athletes who represent the next generation of basketball excellence. He describes the Heir Series 2 as footwear designed for women through women’s insight. He also points to the forefoot Air Zoom unit as a key tool that supports the playing style seen throughout the women’s game.

The Heir Series began in 2024 as part of Jordan Brand’s longer engagement with women’s basketball. That history traces back to the 1998 release of the women’s Air Jordan OG, the brand’s first model created exclusively for women. Subsequent work includes footwear developed for Maya Moore, retail models tuned for female athletes, and Player Editions created with athletes such as Kiki Rice and Kia Nurse. Jordan Brand also offers extended sizing to serve players at every level of play.

Jordan Brand will release the Heir Series 2 globally on February 20 through jordan.com and select retail locations.
