The three-minute trailer begins with a dramatic rescue sequence that immediately establishes the dangers facing the lifeguard team. An airplane collides with a parasail in mid-air, creating an emergency in the ocean below. Amell takes charge of the rescue, introducing his character, Hobie Buchannon, as an experienced lifeguard responsible for responding to dangerous situations along the coast.
Hobie returns to the franchise as an adult, following the path of his father, Mitch Buchannon. Now serving as a Baywatch Captain, he carries the responsibilities of leading rescue operations while maintaining the family connection that forms an important part of the original series. His position places him at the center of the reboot’s storyline, which introduces a new chapter in the Buchannon family.
The arrival of Hobie’s long-lost daughter, Charlie, creates the main personal conflict. Jessica Belkin plays Charlie, who unexpectedly enters her father’s life with plans to become a lifeguard herself. She wants to follow the family tradition and establish her own place within Baywatch. Her determination introduces a new relationship for Hobie to navigate as he continues his duties as captain.
The father-daughter storyline gives the upcoming series a connection to its earlier characters while introducing a new family relationship. Hobie must confront Charlie’s sudden appearance and her ambition to work alongside the lifeguards. Their developing relationship forms a central part of the narrative, linking the Buchannon family history with the next generation.
The production also introduces an ensemble of familiar entertainment personalities. Shay Mitchell, Brooks Nader, Hassie Harrison, Livvy Dunne, Noah Beck, David Chokachi, and Thaddeus LaGrone join the principal cast. Ashley Moore and Luke Eisner will appear in recurring roles, further extending the group of characters featured throughout the season.
The trailer also confirms an appearance from Megan Thee Stallion, who joins the production for a cameo. Her involvement adds another recognizable name to the cast, which brings together performers from different areas of entertainment for the television revival.
Through its opening rescue sequence, the preview establishes the action that will accompany the personal storylines. The ocean emergency places Hobie in his professional role before the narrative turns toward Charlie and the changes her arrival brings to his life. The series builds its central premise around these developments, returning to the lifeguard setting associated with Baywatch.
Fox plans to introduce the reboot during its 2026-2027 broadcast season, with January 2027 as the scheduled premiere window. The new production will feature 12 episodes, bringing Hobie Buchannon back to television as the franchise introduces its latest cast and storyline.
