Tomorrow, on Saturday December 17th, Corey Helford Gallery will present work of Los Angeles based artist Sylvia Ji, “Gilded Roses” is her fourth exhibition in the gallery and with it she is exploring “the ornamented being”. Ji will show twelve new paintings she created with inspiration from modern couture and western European costume designs.
“As a child I would revel in and devour all things related to historical costume; it is a passion of mine. Bygone eras of corsets, crinolines, explosions of lace, feathers, silks, satins, glinting jewels—all gilded to a state of heightened beauty and sartorial elegance.” – Sylvia Ji
Syvlia's signature red palette is highlighted by an assortment of jewel tones: deep crimsons, inviting purples and crisp emeralds with use of gold leaf to accentuate each piece. View more of her work after the jump:

The meat dress painting fronting the latest edition of artzine Juxtapoz is actually called Incarnation, created in 2009 it was part of The Gay 90's : Old Time Art Show. Mark's hauntingly beautiful art will get its first monograph release, you can expect Pinxit released this month in conjunction with Art Basel and the noted Taschen Books.
