Annelie Schubert presented her SS16 collection on the 09th of July 2015, the third show day of Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Berlin, at the main runway. The show was presented by Mercedes- Benz and ELLE and tickets were highly sought after. The french- german designer had previously won the “International Festival of Fashion and Photography” in Hyéres, France. Next to the prize money, and a collaboration with Petit Bateau, the price also includes the production of several pieces in atelier Chanel. The renowned french luxus brand is the organizator of this festival. Chairman of this jury is no other than legendary star designer Karl Lagerfeld. Being chosen by his excellent eye means a lot for the career of any upcoming designer. What contributed to Annelie Schuberts’ success is her highly creative play with draperies and layerings. Being significant for her style as well: aprons!
Her SS16 was a pure jollification and a creative play with various draperies, layers and, of course: aprons! Length- wise, it stayed creative and innovative. Aprons in various silhouettes are shown and they contribute to her creative play with layers. It was a show that was inspiring to watch, it expressed pure joie de vivre.
Sophisticated. Senual. Sublime.
Her range of materials was opulent, for instance wool met organza. Albeit also neopren and tweed could be noticed in this collection. Traditional fabrics were paired with innovative ones and therefore a completely new play with volumes was created. Completely compelling! Having studied at Haider Ackermann, his influences clearly shined through. Character- wise, the collection was international.
While her tops often appeared over- sized, her pants and skirts stayed rather plain. Simply smooth! It is a collection that is flattering for the feminine silhouette. But also her play with asymmetric elements deserves devotion. It lifts this collection to another level. The make- up of the models was kept super clean, the hair worn straight back with centre parting.
Shoe- wise, both rough ankle boots, but also open sandals with heels were added.
We will definitely keep an eye of Annelie Schubert and are excited where her journey will lead her.
